Registration: Closes December 1, 2007. If you have questions, please see the contacts listed below.
Registration forms for all levels, and uniform order forms, required for U15 and U13 players, are due by December 1, 2007. We have to have an accurate count for the MBYLL scheduling meeting early in January.
It is VERY important that you register on time because the MBYLL must know how many teams to schedule by January 2007. In fairness to those who do register on time, we will not allow late registrations IF it over fills the rosters for the number of teams that we schedule in January. Please plan ahead and register. (Registration OPEN)
Fee: The fee covers the required registration with US Lacrosse (for insurance purposes), supplies such as balls and the ever-increasing cost of game officials and playing field fees. No child will be denied participation for financial reasons.
Uniform: U15 and U13 players will be required to purchase their own uniforms. The uniforms consist of a jersey with the player's name and shorts. The cost for the uniform is $TBA.00 (see order form). New shorts or jerseys may be purchased separately for those who need a replacement. We will try very hard not to change the uniform style substantially so your player should be able to use this uniform a number of years. Ordering a uniform is optional for the U11's and the Developmental players as they will will be loaned jerseys for the season.
Season: Practices usually start in the latter part of March depending on the condition of the fields. Practice times have not been established at this point. Your child’s coach will call with final details. The first game is usually the first Sunday of April and continues on Sunday afternoons until the 2nd week of June.
Eligibility: Players must be in 3rd through 8th grade. The low point of the cutoff is usually 8 years old and subject to the HWYLA discretion. The upper age limit is set by US Lacrosse and the MBYLL, and it is NOT negotiable:
The U11 and Developmental player, grade 4 and under and must be 10 or under on December 31 in order to be eligible;
The U13 player, grades 5 & 6 and must be 12 or under on December 31 in order to be eligible;
The U15 player, grades 7 & 8 and must be 14 or under on December 31 in order to be eligible.
In addition, according to MBYLL rules, if the player is in 9th grade, they are not eligible. This applies even if the child is 14 years of age. If a player falls into this situation they may apply for a waiver from the MBYLL.Non-residents: Generally, the program does not have enough space for players outside of Hamilton/Wenham. Players who live outside Hamilton or Wenham who have participated in our program last year may play if they are still age-eligible. Others may contact the program in case a team is short players in which case out of town players may be extended an offer to participate on a space available basis.
Required Equipment includes stick, pads, gloves, and helmet:
US Lacrosse/MBYLL equipment information.For help in buying properly fitting equipment, we recommend that kids go to:
Commonwealth Lacrosse in Peabody center that sells a starter package as well as a wide array of heads, sticks, equipment, etc. (1.978.531.2700, 1.888.548.4529).They will know the equipment needed and will probably be more knowledgeable about fit than the mass merchandisers. For new players they offer a starter kit $199.99.
